Due to continued rainfall in the catchment ECAN have flood warnings in place for the Waimakariri River.
300mm+ of rainfall has fallen in parts of the catchment.

The intake gates were shut down at 9.00am this morning.
Please keep irrigating until the water subsides in the water races today.

We will update you as soon as the intake is able to be re-opened.

The Waimakariri Irrigation Ltd Scheme is a shareholder-owned cooperative company with consent to take water 11.041 cumecs from the Waimakariri River. Water is drawn from the Waimakariri River at Browns Rock for distribution through 1,100 kilometres of open race channels to supply around 200 shareholders. The Scheme supplies farms covering approximately 30,000 ha within an overall area of 78,000 ha and is located between the Waimakariri and the Ashley Rivers and between Oxford and Rangiora townships.
